Andy Biggs’ Running Mate Doubles Down on Letting Saudi Arabian Corporations Drain Arizona Groundwater

Yesterday, on KTAR, Andy Biggs’ running mate Sine Kerr doubled down on allowing Saudi Arabian corporations to deplete Arizona’s groundwater supply. Kerr said she “is not in favor of just singling out a certain industry, certain companies,” defending the Saudi-owned alfalfa farms that have been draining Arizona’s groundwater dry.

Kerr’s extreme record matches her comments. She previously proposed an amendment that would have protected the ability of Fondomonte and other out-of-state corporations to pump Arizona’s groundwater unchecked while local farmers suffer.  

The stakes couldn’t be higher. In 2023 alone, the Saudi-owned Fondomonte farm used more than 31,000 acre-feet of groundwater in La Paz County — over 81 percent of all groundwater pumped from the Ranegras Basin that year. That’s enough water to supply up to 93,000 Arizona homes for an entire year.

Copper State Victory spokesperson Nicholas Simões Machado said:

“Sine Kerr made one thing clear: the Biggs-Kerr ticket is selling out Arizona to protect a Saudi-owned corporation. If they are too weak to take on a foreign corporation draining Arizona's groundwater, how can Andy Biggs and Sine Kerr ever be trusted to stand up for Arizona?”
