After Biggs Claimed Inflation Was “Tamed,” Inflation Climbs Above Four Percent

Andy Biggs said that Trump “tamed inflation.” Today’s inflation report tells a different story.
This morning, the Bureau of Labor Statistics reported that inflation has exceeded 4 percent for the first time in three years, a sign that costs are continuing to rise for Arizona families.
This report raises serious questions for Biggs and David Schweikert, who have backed the war in Iran and tariff policies that have raised prices and directly contributed to the accelerating rate of inflation. Biggs specifically argued that tariffs were “not inflationary,” further claiming that Washington has “tamed inflation,” and referred to tariffs as “brilliant.”
Now, with inflation accelerating, Arizonans deserve to know: Does Biggs still believe inflation has been tamed?
Schweikert, meanwhile, bragged about personally “doing the calculations” with the White House on inflationary tariffs and proposed his own new tax instead of offering Arizonans relief. According to a Joint Economic Committee report, Arizonans paid an extra $2,200 for goods and services because of Biggs and Schweikert’s cost-hiking tariff agenda.
Copper State Victory spokesperson Nicholas Simões Machado said:
“Andy Biggs said inflation was tamed, but every Arizonan knows that is a lie as prices continue to skyrocket and we’re hitting new three-year highs. Arizona families don't have the luxury of pretending higher prices aren't real, and they deserve to know whether Biggs still stands by his absurd claim that inflation was tamed.”
